2016 Honda Civic Cargo Hook

A customized remix of BONELOC's trunk hook for the Accord is created specifically for the radically different Civic 2016. It is recommended that you print this design with something flexible such as ABS or PET. I personally use PET+ due to its high glass transition temperature, strength, and resistance to warping. PLA may also work but since the holding pins need to be bent in order to snap into place and PLA is so brittle it might break. Anything with a low glass transition temperature is more likely to break over time. The "more round" version has more rounded edges since the original design is barely rounded, which might be the better option. ::UPDATE:: The rounded version turned out great but moves a bit too freely. I've used my caliper to measure the opening and it came out at 29.86mm. I've uploaded a new version that's 29.8mm thick in hopes that it will fit perfectly and not be loose. Not sure how well it works yet but I've learned a lot about design since my first attempt at this so mechanically it should be better though the sizing may still be off. I made the walls on the arms that attach to the trunk a bit more thin and also hollowed them out to hopefully make it more flexible for better installation without sacrificing strength. If you have decent bridging there are no supports needed. I also hollowed out the center of the model to reduce material used and make it look nicer, which shouldn't affect strength either. Lastly, I made the CivicX logo a bit deeper. 07/07/18 Small update: Made the arms just a bit more stiff for strength and narrowed the gap they hold onto the metal lip for reduced movement. Print Settings: Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2 Infill: Minimum 30% - Recommended 60% Notes: Use at least 2 shells but I would recommend 3 or 4. Do not print in another angle, this will make the part too weak. How I Designed This: I used a combination of Meshmixer, SketchUp, Selva 3D image to STL tool, and NetFabb's cloud based STL repair tool. Resizing was done using Meshmixer, cleaning and text were added using SketchUP, Selva 3D converted the CIVIC X logo, and finally Nettfab's tool made the file printable. I'm sure there's a better way to have designed this and I'm open to suggestions; I just don't have any experience with modeling.
