2015+ WRX AP Mount - BEEF
thingiverse
I drew inspiration from the original design but didn't copy it directly, instead creating a new version that's more robust and better suited for my needs. This one is beefier and less prone to shaking on the road, eliminating the need for the flimsy stock mount that often sags and fails to hold the AP securely. The fixed angle design is optimized to reduce glare from clothing when viewing the AP in sunlight and stays below the hood line, out of sight for traffic. It also clears the driver's side vent, ensuring the AP isn't blasted or blocked by air. I replaced the bolt and nut system with 3M double-sided tape, making it possible to print without supports. If desired, you can glue some 2mm foam or cork to the inside of the clamp instead of using tape. The clamp holds well without tape, but if you prefer a more secure fit, tape is an option. The main clamp prints without supports, and all angles should overhang without issues. The angled mount requires support for its tabs, which are minimal and easy to remove. This design replaces the stock mount that wiggled and failed to hold the AP well, providing a snug fit and keeping everything tight. To assemble the parts, test-fit the clamp on the dash, then attach the angle with the AP3 holder mounted to it. Mark the spot where you want them to join and use acetone to weld the two pieces together. The result should be a solid piece that's perfect for withstanding dashboard temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I created two versions of the angle: one hollow and one solid, both designed to fit your needs perfectly.
