I was looking for a sleek OEM-inspired way to secure switches in a non-permanent manner. As far as I know, this solution is specifically designed for 2015+ STI models only. However, I'm not sure if it will fit the WRX as its interior layout differs (please let me know if that's incorrect). There are several versions of this product available, ranging from a basic plate to cover the area beneath the radio, to a ready-to-install option with pre-cut switch openings. For those with smaller printers, there are split 2-piece versions of each design. The split version featuring switch cutouts has tabs on one side for bonding the halves together using glue (check out the adhesive I use below). In contrast, the solid plate split model lacks these tabs, so I've also included them separately as a downloadable file. While not essential, these tabs can simplify the joining process. When it comes to mounting, you'll need to think creatively. I simply aligned the component and used hot glue along the inner edges, but you could create custom mounting brackets if desired. To prepare for painting or vinyl application, sand the surface smooth (I used 400-grit sandpaper) and fill any gaps as needed with auto-body filler.
