2013 Warp Drive Design
thingiverse
In 2013, I created a Warp Drive model based on illustrations found in articles such as "NASA's Warp Drive Project: Speeds that Could Take a Spacecraft to Alpha Centauri in Two Weeks" (http://beforeitsnews.com/space/2013/05/nasas-warp-drive-project-speeds-that-could-take-a-spacecraft-to-alpha-centauri-in-two-weeks-even-though-the-system-is-4-3-light-years-away-2459620.html) and "How NASA Will Build Its Very First Warp Drive" (http://io9.com/5963263/how-nasa-will-build-its-very-first-warp-drive). Additionally, a video showcasing the warp drive in action can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DhdImUroaE. This design is an advanced Alcubierre Drive, aiming to be more energy and exotic matter efficient, making it a realistic starship model. The 3D printed image was created on a third-generation Solidoodle at a 1/3 scale with full support.
