The trunk was scanned using an Xbox Kinect and Skanect to create this custom subwoofer box, measuring .91 cubic feet in size, perfect for housing either a 10 or 12-inch subwoofer. This box has been carefully optimized specifically for a 10-inch Sony Xplod speaker system, taking into account the precise specs required for a .91 cubic foot ported box design, resulting in an incredibly great sound quality. This project is not for the faint of heart; my secret to pulling it off lies in mixing up a thick ABS slurry with a syrup-like consistency and using it to fill in any cracks or areas where the print lifted off the bed, creating inconsistencies. I also soak each component in a long acetone vapor bath to add extra strength and durability. In preparation for assembly, I had to carefully sand down a couple of male keys due to the fact that when the female key is located at the bottom of the print bed, the expansion during the first layer and support material creation results in a tolerance that's too tight to fit properly.
