This design was influenced by 4volt's Hex toy and the Bonsai Calendar [http://www.notcot.org/post/26450]. The concept of a calendar desk toy attracted me, particularly the idea of constructing with time. This construction toy calendar was born as a result. An interesting feature is that at the end of 2010, there's no need to discard the calendar; instead, a new one for 2011 (and so forth) can be cut and combined with the previous year's pieces to create more intricate structures. The accompanying files are designed for 1/8-inch thick plywood, which I recommend over acrylic due to tight tolerances. Plywood has flexibility, preventing snapping that could ruin your month. The file includes two colored lines - cut the red (hex shape) and etch the black (text). Assemble, reassemble monthly with the current month on top, and enjoy this unique calendar toy.
