I'm attaching a gear-shift end for my Ford F250, now featuring small tabs to prevent it from falling back out when the weather is sweltering. However, you may have to locate some gentle adhesive to keep it securely in place. I've found that PLA tends to warp under pressure, so I recommend using something removable like a dab of hot-glue for ease of access if repairs are needed later on.
