2004 Cadillac CTS-V Sail Panel Bracket
thingiverse
The interior cover for the 2004 Cadillac CTS-V Sail Panel, also known as the C pillar, has a plastic bracket screwed into a retainer within it that deteriorates over time. The access hole for this screw features a small plastic clip with "Air Bag" printed on it. Once the internal bracket cracks, the sail panel detaches from the body and becomes loose. To repair this issue, if enough of the internal bracket remains intact, a washer can be attached to the remaining part and a new #8 x 1/2 inch screw can be used in its place. However, this retainer is not actually threaded for screws. If not enough of the internal bracket remains, a replacement that includes both the internal bracket and the "Air Bag" clip on cover can be installed. The necessary tools include: * #8 x 1/2 inch metal screws with a 7mm hex washer slotted head * A 7mm hex bit driver * Barbecue skewers Once the clip on covers have been removed, snap off any remaining cracked plastic from the end of the internal bracket. Then insert the new bracket through the access hole and use a barbecue skewer to align it with the retainer while pressing the sail panel against the C pillar. Remove the skewer and use a printed bit driver extension combined with a 7mm hex bit driver to lightly tighten the screw.
