Porsche's Boxster and Boxster S have long been top choices around here since their first model hit the market in late 1996. They've made our 10Best list a record five times, dominated three comparison tests, and remain one of the most coveted cars to ever occupy our car board. However, the Boxster competes in the notoriously demanding sports-car segment, an area that tends to favor the latest face or newest model. Not so with this car. Boxster sales have only recently begun to slow as the cars matured, and Porsche attributes the Boxster with pulling the company out of its financial struggles during the early 1990s.
