20" Ring Light

20" Ring Light

My wife was eager to buy one of these online light kits to enhance the lighting for her eyelash extension tutorials, family photo shoots, and Instagram video productions. I had some leftover LED light strips, an AC adapter, and a spare light stand on hand, so I offered to design a custom solution using them. After all, I thought it would be a great project to tackle. The STL files are remarkably detailed, making assembly relatively straightforward. The ring requires 9 segments to complete, but I was able to assemble it seamlessly by using epoxy as the bonding agent. To secure the light strip in place, I applied additional epoxy to prevent any movement caused by the manufacturer's adhesive failure. A random nut and bolt served as a makeshift hinge, which worked surprisingly well. I also created a model for a Bolt/Nut set that users can print and assemble, although it hasn't been tested yet. The resulting parts are nearly the correct size, but not an exact match in terms of threading, so you may need to visit your local hardware store to find matching components.
