2-Spool High Bypass Turbofan
grabcad
Another turbofan engine I modeled for fun in CATIA. It is loosely based on both the CFM 56 and CF6, but with a wider chord fan. It has only 2 spools, but it is a little more detailed than my 3 spool engine I made earlier. I'll be the first to say it won't be a functional model because I didn't learn how to do the required calculations for the geometry when I modeled this. For now, the models are accurate only on a basic, fundamental level. The most up-to-date file is the full model without cutaway. This model incorporates a "switch" (using Knowledgeware), where the user can turn the model into a cutaway, or turn it into the full 360-degree model. It's a product-level parameter that probably won't show up by default in CATIA; it must be made visible through Options. This particular model seems quite popular as I've noticed renderings of it (made by others) popping up all over the internet - the blue "x-ray" rendering, for example, which I included above.
