I'm proud to show off my gearbox, which consists of two sets of gears. Power comes from the top shaft, where the gears are cast directly into it. The upper two gears connect seamlessly with the lower ones, transferring motion constantly. The lower gears are mounted on bearings and ride smoothly on their own shaft - they spin freely when in neutral gear. In the middle of the two sets, a clutch sits ready to be controlled by a lever. When you move the lever, it connects the upper shaft to the gear, passing along the motion until finally delivering output power... My gearbox can act as a reducer with one combination (z1=60 m=1 z2=100 m=1) and as an increaser with another combination (z3=45 m=2 z4=35 m=2).
