This novel mechanism is similar to my previous design (Reciprocating rack with segmented gear) yet employs a different segmented gear as the driving element. There are numerous variations possible; I implemented both gears featuring four segments of teeth each, resulting in the driven gear completing one rotation per driver revolution, but distributed across four intervals.
