2. Rosary- Ready
thingiverse
As an antiques appraiser, I am tasked with researching this intriguing artifact. The president associated with this relic is none other than John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States and a member of the Democratic Party. This artifact represents a significant presidential power, specifically the separation of church and state. The rosary, designed by Megan O'Hara, was created as part of a class project in Ms. Relator's US Government class at Dominion HS in Virginia. The Mystery Artifact lesson can be found on the Loudoun County Public Schools website. Clues surrounding this artifact are quite revealing. A speech delivered by Kennedy emphasized his commitment to religious freedom and assured the public that his faith would not influence his decisions as president. Additionally, a rosary was discovered in Kennedy's pocket after he was assassinated, highlighting its sentimental value. The significance of this artifact lies in its connection to John F. Kennedy, who made history as the first Roman Catholic President of the United States. The object itself, a rosary, holds personal significance for those familiar with the Catholic faith. On closer inspection, one finds that the rosary bears the inscription "A woman who went to the same church as this president, St. Aidan’s Catholic Church in Massachusetts found it and gave it to me." President Kennedy's role as Chief Executive was marked by his commitment to the separation of church and state. In a speech delivered on September 12, 1960, he eloquently stated, "I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute, where no Catholic prelate would tell the president (should he be Catholic) how to act, and no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote." This quote underscores Kennedy's dedication to upholding this fundamental principle. As a researcher, I chose to focus on this artifact because of its significance in American history. The rosary serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of separating church and state, an issue that remains relevant today. By examining this artifact, we gain insight into the life and legacy of John F. Kennedy, a president who left an indelible mark on our nation's history.
