This is a master mold box designed specifically for creating silicone lure molds. To produce the highest quality lures, I employ a multi-process printing technique that focuses on key areas with a .08 layer height, ensuring an incredibly smooth finish. For added perfection, wet sanding can be used to refine the surface even further. A light coating of matte clear acrylic spray is also applied to the mold boxes. A relatively heavy rectilinear infill pattern (40%) is utilized to guarantee clean top layers and a robust mold box structure. This approach ensures that the mold will perform flawlessly, producing precise and detailed lures. For users who encounter incomplete filling towards the tail, vented versions of the mold box are provided. These offer improved airflow, but do require some additional cleanup as they leave an extra sprue on the lure body. To secure the silicone mold halves during casting, two Mold Frames must be printed and assembled together using rubber bands seated in the notches. Alternatively, cheap disposable syringes can be used to inject the casting material into the mold. I personally use urethane from SmoothOn for this purpose. The channels at the nose, tail, and bottom of the mold box can be plugged with filament to retain pilot holes for screw eyelets. For this task, I recommend using 2mm OD solid PTFE filament as it does not stick in the casting material, ensuring a seamless process.
