The BYU Compliant Mechanisms Research group (compliantmechanisms.byu.edu) developed it under a grant from NASA. Three versions of the device are included: the original file used in the metal prototype and two modified versions for FDM printing with an improved output connection. One version has thicker flexures for easier printing. The improved output connection measures 0.55x0.6 inches and features a 0.25-inch hole. This hole fits a 1/4-20 bolt perfectly, including a hex indentation on the bottom of the device. The adjuster knobs are 0.25-inch hexagons measured across to the other parallel side.
