2-color tree frog
thingiverse
The Tiger's Treefrog, Hyloscirtus tigrinus, is an uncommon species with intricate skin patterns discovered in Ecuador and Colombia's rainforests. With only approximately 250 adult frogs left, this rare species boasts a maze-like design on its skin. The 3D printable model of this treefrog is designed for dual extrusion printers and consists of two files: "hollow" and "solid." If your printer has only one extruder, you can print the "solid" file to create a single-colored frog. Printing requires no supports; we used Makerware's medium settings on a Makerbot Replicator 1 with ABS, printing at .2mm layer height and 10% infill. However, slicing this design can be time-consuming, taking us 13 minutes to slice using .2mm layers in Makerware. The frog's body was modeled from actual photographs of Hyloscirtus tigrinus using Blender, with the pattern generated through a reaction-diffusion simulation.
