Bowl This fine vessel boasts a deep body and a tall bottom ring that forms the foundation of its elegant design. The upper side of the bowl's wall is remarkably straight, culminating in an everted rim that adds to its refined appearance. The profile of this impressive vessel bears a striking resemblance to the letter "S", underscoring its sophistication. It is likely that this exquisite piece was used for serving and consuming food with great flair. Its unique design makes it particularly characteristic of the Dacian sites found in the Orăştiei mountains. Two distinct variants have been documented, each with varying capacities. Findspot: The bowl was discovered in Grădiştea de Munte – Meleia, a commune within the Orăştioara region of Hunedoara County. Dimensions: This magnificent vessel stands at an impressive height of 12 cm, with a rim diameter of 32.5 cm and a base diameter of 10.4 cm. Material: The bowl is crafted from high-quality clay, featuring a fine brown-yellowish paste that adds to its allure. Technique: The skilled artisans who created this masterpiece employed the wheel-throwing technique, followed by oxidation firing to achieve the desired effect. Historical Date: This remarkable piece dates back to the 1st century AD. Time period: It is firmly rooted in the Late Iron Age, specifically during the Dacian era. Digitization Method: The bowl was meticulously scanned using a 3D Laser scanner courtesy of a team from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca. Data Provider: This remarkable artifact is proudly displayed at the Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilization in Deva.
