2.5D Red St.Petersburg Metro Train

2.5D Red St.Petersburg Metro Train

thingiverse

This is a 2.5D model inspired by the sleek new red trains zooming through the St.Petersburg Metro tunnels. The model uses just three or four colors, but it's cleverly designed to print on a single material printer with a bit of manual fiddling and tweaking. After slicing, edit your gcode files to insert filament swap commands, for instance: ``` ; -- filament change to white -- M104 S195 ; set temperature M600 G1 Z2.400 F7800.000 ; move to next layer (7) G92 E5 ; reset extrusion distance ``` Make sure your extrusion distance matches the value on the next layer. For example, if it begins with something like "G1 ... E5.01406", G92 E5 will likely work fine. If the values of E mismatch, you risk getting blobs of filament injected in the middle of your print. Print the body and the wheels + window inserts separately. If they don't hold together by friction alone, use glue to attach them, or treat the entire set as a puzzle that needs to be solved. P.S. At the time of printing this, my extrusion multiplier was uncalibrated - sorry about that!
