2.5" SSD Secure Storage Rack
thingiverse
I know, I get it, this design needs some serious tweaking - for starters, it's on the wrong axis altogether...plus, can we just ignore those three little rectangles way off to the right of the actual rack? Working with a company that asked me to come up with a storage rack capable of holding at least 45 2.5" SSDs, each containing vital emergency backup images of machines on the production floor. I designed a total of 26 drawers which can hold two SSDs per drawer. This gives us a total capacity of 52 SSDs - specifically Intel 530 Series 480GB SSDs. The dimensions are approximately (26cm x 18cm x 18cm) (L x W x H), not including the handle on top. The locking mechanism on the front locks all the SSD trays in place using a multiple bolting system. When you turn the key, it unlocks all the SSDs at once. I'm not entirely sold on this lock design - it's pretty basic and might not be the most practical solution, so feel free to modify it or come up with something better. The clear acrylic plastic doors at the front have a metal frame that can be locked with a padlock for added security. This storage rack is supposed to be made of metal, but I'm sharing this design in case you guys want to get creative and make some significant changes. Just keep in mind that it's not fully tested yet - especially the locking mechanism, which is enclosed behind the front panel. Don't say I didn't warn you...
