2.5" HD Stand
thingiverse
This is a stand for a standard 2.5" Hard Drive with USB3.0 to SATA adapter. I had an old Seagate Laptop Hard Drive lying around that belonged to my Sister-in-Law's HP laptop, which crapped out due to bad solder joints on the CPU - a common problem I discovered later. Windows 10 Backup to a NAS fails for me after about a week; I reset the backup three times over a couple of months before giving up. So I decided to use that old Seagate HD as my backup drive and needed a case for it. I bought a used Seagate USB3.0 to SATA adapter so I could plug it directly into my laptop and back up to it - only to find out you need an extremely short USB3.0 cable or there's not enough power to keep the HD going during the backup. I designed this case around those specs, so it might not work with any other drive/adapter combination. Just for fun, I designed this in 'Vase' mode (Spiralized) to have very thin walls and used Translucent Blue, allowing me to see all the goodies inside and the blinky light when it's running. You can still print this solid if you prefer. Print Settings Printer: Aurora A3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2mm Infill: 0% Notes: Spiralize (Vase Mode) the main body for a translucent look, or just print standard walls and infill for a regular case. Print the stand block with standard settings (not Vase mode) and insert it from the bottom to hold the HD in place - it should be a tight, frictiony fit.
