2.5" Hard drive bracket and shelf for Raspberry Pi Blade Center / Rackmount (3 rod version)
thingiverse
I wanted to add a 2.5" SSD hard drive to one of my Raspberry Pi's and use the extra space in the rack for a shelf to possibly mount a power supply or switch. In order to maximize the storage space, I mounted my rack upside down so the double screw rods are at the bottom, which forms a natural shelf anyway. The hard drive tray uses 3 or 4 M3x6 screws for the hard drive and 4 M2.5x6 screws to mount the tray to the original Pi cart. I used hex screws with a socket cap head so the 2 screws under the hard drive are countersunk to allow the drive to sit flat. One of the HD screws is covered by the Pi cart once the tray is mounted so you can either use 3 screws or all 4 screws can be used if you attach the HD to the tray by the blocked crew and then rotate it out of the way to install the 2 screws under the HD to the cart. There is enough clearance to use either an SSD or standard drive. Because I wish more people would, I have included the Fusion 360 source file for the HD tray for easier modification. There is a hidden body of the cart in the file, but be warned I created it myself and it isn't exactly like the original, but I included it for reference.
