UPDATE July 2016 I've recently updated the amazing Andoer camera to a new tray. This fantastic device offers 4K for an incredibly affordable £40, making it hard not to love. Although similar in size to the GoPro, it is surprisingly lighter so a custom-designed tray was required to ensure perfect balance. Check out the attached image to see what I mean. UPDATE April 2016 . The GoPro camera clip on the tray has been rectified and is now working correctly. UPDATE February 2016: A dedicated tray for the impressive GoPro 3 Black has been added, which should also be compatible with the latest GoPro 4 model. This custom-designed part replaces the standard tilt plate, allowing you to simply tap the holes on the support into 3mm and secure the camera in place using matching screws. You can even view an assembly video demonstration online at YouTube (link: https://youtu.be/vmH4GunDxbE). I have retained the original 123D design files should you wish to make any modifications, just send me a private message. My primary aim was to create this project as versatile and flexible as possible, accommodating a variety of cameras while maintaining a sleek aesthetic with hollow shaft motors that enable 360-degree rotation across all axes. A well-calibrated printer is crucial for success, due to the narrow tolerances employed throughout this design. To set up your gimbal properly, avoid overdriving it, which can result in unpleasant shaking and vibrations – causing the motors to overheat and soften surrounding plastic parts. Before initiating printing, determine the specific components you need based on your chosen camera and decide between two or three axis configurations. In addition to 3D printed elements, a minimum of two or three hollow shaft motors will be necessary: RCTimer BGM2804 100T Brushless Gimbal Motor Hollow Shaft (available from Banggood.com, goodluckbuy.com, or eBay) A BGC (gimbal controller) will also be required – I used a Storm32 but the Alexmos would be equally suitable. Replacing all the substantial cables with thin 30AWG silicone wire allows for easier insertion into hollow shafts. These high-quality wires are available on eBay and highly recommended. Printing Details: - Printer Model: RepRap Fabrikator - Use or no rafts: No Matter - Enable supports or not: No matter, it depends the geometry of your parts - Minimum Layer Height: .2 millimeters - Infill Percentage: 40 percent
