2.1" rocket avionics bay
thingiverse
This is an avionics bay designed specifically for a PML 2.1" coupler in high-power rockets. The sled is engineered to hold a single stratologger CF altimeter, a 9v battery, a microswitch, and all connectors and wiring, all neatly secured within its confines. The avionics bay itself is constructed from two 4mm threaded rods spaced 38mm apart, two 6mm threaded eye bolts, and an assortment of matching washers, nuts, and cable ties. Mounting holes for the altimeter are not pre-drilled, allowing users to install similar-sized devices with ease. For my particular av bay, I used standoffs by drilling pilot holes and tapping screws directly into the sled. The microswitch was mounted in its designated slot using two pins inserted through drilled holes at the end of the av bay. All parts were printed from ABS material. Disclaimer: I designed and printed bulkheads and ejection charge cups for this av bay, but opted to use matching laser-cut plywood bulkheads and milled aluminum charge cups.
