Building on the bracket designed by user rob0tuss1n, adjustments were made to fit the tiny ProCurve switch in its entirety. The ProCurve 1400 was acquired for $20 at a local recycling center, boasting gigabit capabilities that met my requirements and featuring a very small profile due to its depth. This was crucial as I am utilizing a standard 2U patch panel rack for both the cabling and the switch, necessitating that the switch fit snugly within it. Ultimately, reversing the brackets allowed me to position the switch 1-2 inches beyond the bracket's edge, thereby providing ample clearance on the back for the power cord. The original bracket design specified a spacing of 11mm from the top and bottom to the holes, 22mm between holes on both sides, and 20mm from the front of the bracket to the first hole (all distances measured from the center of the holes). Comparatively, rob0tuss1n's bracket employed a spacing of 25mm between holes. To secure the bracket to the side of the switch, six 32 1/2 inch bolts were utilized. The sole challenge encountered was that the rack holes for the rack screws were somewhat tight, necessitating an increase in their width by 1mm if I were to design a version 4. Although the rack screws function adequately at present, the oval shape of the mounting hole should theoretically enable adjustments while racking; however, this is not possible with the current mount as the rack screw digs into the mounting hole, rendering left/right movement impossible. To enhance the design further, countersinking the holes for mounting the switch could be beneficial. Despite these minor shortcomings, the outcome is satisfactory and more than acceptable given the time invested in its creation.
