1U CubeSat Concept PACO
grabcad
This cubesat design aims to meet CalPoly standards, maximize payload capacity, be partially modular, utilize additive manufacturing, and adapt to various CubeSat sizes. The frame is made of aluminum with direct metal laser sintering and hard anodizing, avoiding plastic due to its limitations in microgravity and high-temperature environments. A hexahedral design provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio, allowing customization for individual thermo profiles and hardpoints. The board stack-up is inserted as a single unit, facilitating independent electrical and system engineering development. Assembly involves attaching components to the frame with stainless steel fasteners. Suitable for high schools, universities, and small companies, this design could potentially pass CalPoly acceptance within two years of testing and modifications. The designer, a mechanical engineering student, created it without copying others' designs or compensation.
