1U CubeSat
thingiverse
This work-in-progress is a 1:1 scale model of a 1U CubeSat based on the CalPoly rev13 design spec, available at http://www.cubesat.org. The top and bottom can be securely attached by gluing them in place. I deliberately left a hole in one end to simulate a camera port, providing a clear view of the interior of the satellite through the cutaway side. One of the sides is intentionally modified to allow visibility inside the satellite. The brown panel visible in the cutaway side was a leftover piece from a previous design and not included in the STL file. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: X3REX modified Prusa i3 Rafts: No rafts were used during printing. Supports: Printing was done without any supports. Resolution: The model was printed at a resolution of 0.1mm. Infill: Infill density was set to 25%. Notes: Sliced with Cura. How I Designed This: Designed in Sketchup Using the CalPoly rev13 design spec as a reference, I created the digital design files in Sketchup from scratch. Custom Section ADDITIONAL NOTES: The sides fit snugly into their rails. The top and bottom are held in place by friction alone, but can be securely attached with glue if desired. Ultimately, circuit board mock-ups based on the PC/104 specification will be added to the model. Posts or standoffs will be needed to mount the boards properly.
