1mm VoodooFaceshield V3.4
prusaprinters

Update June 21:

The Faceshield turns out to be also sliceble with current versions of Cura when setting Z Seam Alignment to “User Specified”. Settings down below.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This print uses Voodoo magic and a 1mm nozzle to enhance print speed while still producing a good quality finish.

It uses the "surface mode" feature from the experimental section which moves the nozzle on the middle of the surface instead of inside the boundary's of a closed object. With that I have almost full control over the movement of the nozzle. It is my specialty to make models that can be printed in one go without traveling at all. So you can print fast and still have a good finish.

That is new in version 3:
there are no open holes in the part anymore and I redesigned it to have no unwipeable areas. Also I got rid of some unnecessary material and shortened the printtime.

You can find the old Version here:
https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/28412-1mm-nozzle-version-of-crazy-fast-voodoo-headband-pr

There is also a version for a 0.4mm nozzle:
https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/28342-crazy-fast-voodoo-headband-prusa-faceshield-compati

The print time for the .4mm nozzle is about 40 minutes and for the 1mm nozzle about 15 minutes

And please take the time to rate and comment

The attached gcode is for a Anet A8 and PETG
If you print in PLA there is gcode for that in the "user print files"
the gcode is for a 1mm nozzle. But I cant select that...

Print instructions

Some things to notice when you set this thing up for your printer:

Set
"Outer Wall Speed" to 30
"Layer Height" to 0.75
“Surface Mode” to “Surface”
"z seam alignment" to “user specified”,
"z seam x" to half your bedsize and
"z seam y" to somewhere right in front of the forehead band. in my case (220mm) 150 works fine.

check if the small travels are only at the outside of the forehead band and don't jump around everywhere.

When the print is done, take care that the lower edge of the forehead band is not sharp. It usually is. take a knife or a deburring tool and clean it off nicely. this task deserves some time. think about the person who has to wear that thing for 8 hours a day while risking his/her life.
