I needed a spot to stash my Sirius XM Onyx radio in my 1999 Camaro without obstructing anything. I figured since I wasn't utilizing the small storage compartment in front of the shifter, I'd convert it into something more useful. This way, I can now conceal all the wires within the center console and still access the radio while driving. The modification prevents the ashtray from opening fully, but since I don't use it anyway, it was a worthwhile trade-off.
