A friend of mine came to me with a challenge: his 1993 Case 395 tractor had a broken PTO case vent, and he couldn't find a replacement part. So I dove into Fusion 360 to replicate the vent. I've included two versions for you to choose from: a glue-together style like the original part, and a thread-together style. I only printed the glue style, so the threaded style remains untested, although I anticipate no issues. When using the glue-together style, apply a small amount of glue in the mating groove as well as around the outside of part 1, then clamp or tape them together until the glue sets. When using the thread-together style, apply a small bit of RTV to the groove of part 1. You'll need some open-cell foam to insert into the inner chamber (center hole) of the cap (part 2). This will filter out any airborne particles that might enter and block whatever you install this on. The portion that threads into the case is 1/2"-18 and should work with 1/4-18NPT with some Teflon tape. Apply a thicker layer of tape near the base than near the end to get a good seal. Remember, when tightening it in place, you're torquing the weakest point – the shear strength between layers is the weakest part, so be careful; it just needs to seal. I recommend printing with .1mm layers for the best thread fit. If your slicer can handle variable layer height, feel free to adjust accordingly. I printed part 1 with .1mm layers and part 2 with .2mm layers. PETG seemed suitable for my purpose, so I printed it solid – no supports needed, and the parts are already plated.
