1972 GMC/Chevy Truck License Plate Lamp replacement
thingiverse
I replaced my old license plate lamp assembly after it kept burning out bulbs every 3 days. To solve this problem, I decided to design and build my own assembly using an LED instead of a traditional bulb. The new design reuses the lens from the old assembly, which should be easy enough to replace with clear filament and model a new lens if needed. So far, the new assembly works well, but I may need to update it later to fix any issues that come up. If you want to make your own assembly, here's what you'll need: * Sunix G4 LED Bulbs: These bulbs are 2W (20W Halogen Equivalent), AC12 Volt, 180LM, and have a warm white color with a beam angle of 360 degrees. * DiCUNO Bi-Pin Base: This base is compatible with various types of lighting fixtures and has a ceramic wire connector. You'll also need some electrical butt connectors, heat shrink (for weatherproofing), and blade connectors. Some hot glue can be used to seal the lens and assembly, as well as the wire hole. Note that you can connect the negative blade connector to one of the license plate lamp mounts on your truck. You can use computer fan screws for this project.
