1971 VW Bus Air Cleaner thermostat holder
thingiverse
The original 1971 VW bus airbox thermostat cleverly deployed a flap, which allowed warm exhaust gases to rise up when the engine was chilly, thereby accelerating warm-up time and reducing emissions. As the engine heated up, the thermostat would snap shut, allowing cool outside air to flow into the carburetor. Although the original thermostat has become extinct, this ingenious solution enables you to utilize a modern Calostat/Wahler 1266826 thermostat designed for Volvo 240's instead. To install the new part, simply take out the old thermostat and its plastic holder, then slot in the new holder with the modern thermostat securely fastened by the return spring. The part should be crafted from PETG or another high-temperature material that is oil-resistant to ensure durability.
