Clamshell box/ashtray designed by Alan Fletcher for Pentagram in 1972 is an ingenious creation. It can be easily assembled to form a base and lid, allowing users to enjoy two ashtrays simultaneously. Alternatively, it can be used separately as two individual ashtrays. The unique serrated teeth on the edges serve not only to keep the halves together but also to grip a cigarette securely. When scaling down this design, designers should note that using 0.1 resolution is crucial for creating a smaller box while maintaining proper functionality. If the resolution is set too high above 50%, the shelves may fail to close properly, compromising the overall design's integrity.
