My first simplified car model was the 1969 Ford Mustang, still one of my most downloaded creations to date. I revisited the model at a maker fair and upgraded it to use layers of varying widths. To create a larger model for the fair, I standardized on 10 mm width, 18 mm for the colored core, and 4 mm for the thin layers. Two different woods were used to give the impression of actual tires. The new car interior with seats was another enhancement I adopted from other models I published. The new size resulted in a more dramatic angle for photography, making it possible to get a bigger image on camera. I cut the model on my Sorotec Basicline using a 2.4 mm spiral toothed endmill for the 10 and 4 mm material, and a 4 mm single flute for the 18 mm wood. The drawing features pinholes to simplify layer alignment. Keep in mind that you need to scale all materials if you want to scale the model.
