1954 International Tank Truck In Various Chassis Versions And Articulated Design For My Tractor Unit Please note the STLs are complete size so you can resize them as desired. I prefer printing the body parts separately and the chassis as one unit for best results. The model also includes a single piece cab in case it's more convenient to print that way. Another version of the cab, featuring a stiffer grill and centered windscreen post is also provided. These are among the most fragile parts, which is why both were broken on the demonstration model shown in photos. If you prefer separate chassis components and lack SketchUp experience, feel free to ask for assistance splitting this up. I find it works best to print the wheels horizontally, but they sometimes come out somewhat thin so their dimensions have been artificially enlarged in the model. I tried adding tread details to the tires but was unsuccessful. They appear quite bald due to a lack of detail. However, the original SketchUp file has been included and cleaned up with NetFabb. The STLs still require improvement as they do sometimes come out rough. Still, the model builds fairly well at 1:48th scale and I've constructed several so far. Addressing issues such as the unequal filler spacing on the trailer and lengthening the fifth wheel overhang slightly have been implemented in this version. Additionally, considering the possibility of adding a separate trailer stand, sans tractor unit, has been an idea on my radar. The model is still a work in progress with ongoing additions and refinements, especially with regard to printed bodies. Feedback would be greatly appreciated along with any photographs that demonstrate how it's being built at various scales. Incidentally, the thin wires visible in photos are actually designed for LED headlamps and require simply creating a 3mm hole in which you can insert a corresponding sized LED. This approach doesn't require excessive force or manipulation and can yield fairly decent results with 2mm holes used for rear lighting. To mimic realistic mirrors I employ the strategy of bending thin wires to create basic shapes then affix plasticard discs onto these wire templates. Attempting to directly print high definition mirror patterns in this scale proves difficult due to practical limits, so an alternate solution is essential in this scenario.
