1932 Award Winning Chain
thingiverse
This is a reproduction of the chain that won the 1932 Popular Mechanics whittling competition. The original was carved from one piece of wood. I created this as a project to demonstrate how easy it is to manufacture complex designs with CAD/CAM software. Pictured alongside the version 1 replica is the original chain, a true marvel of hand-carved craftsmanship! This post provides access to the files for version 2, which is remarkably close to the authentic article. Upon completion, the chain measures approximately 78 inches in length.
