1911 Grips
thingiverse
1911 grips differ significantly from others as I have introduced a cutout in this design for the plunger tube, which proves to be a perfect fit on my gun after printing the left grip. I am also uploading STEP files so users can incorporate their unique designs onto these grips. UPDATE: Compact 1911 grips are now available, with only diamond plate and Punisher models uploaded thus far due to limited requests. Compact grips begin with C1911C_, and further designs can be added upon request. Special thanks go to ben8112 for designing the compact grip and allowing its publication on this page. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Select Rafts: No supports needed Supports: No supports required Notes: Print at desired resolution and fill, as demonstrated by a .25mm resolution with 30% fill on the Punisher grip using Hatchbox wood filament. Post-Printing: Given that I printed these grips out of wood, I smoothed them semi-smoothly using sandpaper and Dremel work. Subsequently, I stained them to complete the finish. Users can either polish the grips smooth or leave the layer lines intact for a unique look. The grips fit snugly on my Springfield M1911 Range Officer after shaving a few thousandths of material from the screw holes to ensure a precise fit. How I Designed This: The primary contribution was adding the plunger tube relief cut, as the base design wasn't created by me. I previously CNC milled some Punisher grips out of aluminum several years ago and had these designs stored on my computer for future reference. The original author of the base grips is Robert Burns from GrabCAD, accessible via this link: https://grabcad.com/robert.burns
