Because I lack the necessary equipment to fully stock my 19" server rack, I decided to take matters into my own hands and print my own metal cover plates instead of buying expensive ones.\nI've designed three models:\n1. A 1U blank cover plate\n2. A 1U cover plate with horizontal vent openings\n3. A 1U cover plate with vertical vent openings\nThe parts are interchangeable, as you can see in the photo where I used the sides of the horizontal vent model with the middle section of the blank model.\nIf you don't have a printer yourself, feel free to contact me on my Etsy store and I'll be happy to print it for you: https://www.etsy.com/shop/XDr4g0nX3DPrinting\nPrint Settings\nPrinter Brand: RepRap\nPrinter Model: GEEETech i3 Pro B Metal\nRafts: None\nSupports: Yes\nResolution: 0.2mm layer height\nInfill: 35%\nNotes:\nRotate the parts on their front side and use supports for the side parts.\nPost-Printing\nAfter printing, simply remove the supports.\nNext, sand the flaps a little bit to create a smooth surface, then glue them together using CA glue (CyanoAcrylate).\nDesigning This Model\nAs an owner of an IKEA LackRack and actual server cages at work, I jumped back and forth between designing a model that would fit both.\nI started by taking measurements of real 1U equipment and adjusted the inside stabilizing fins to ensure they would fit in both.
