Update 4/10/18 - made adjustments to the deck and hull for better buoyancy; she now floats with minimal waterline exposure. Added photos of the model floating in the sink, showcasing its stability despite being a bit low in the water. The V2 deck is lighter still, demonstrating improved performance even in the test model. The USS Maine was originally designed to carry two 1895-era torpedo boats, but due to disappointing speed results - approximately 5 knots slower than expected specifications - they were ultimately left out of the USS Maine's design. I created this vessel to complement my ongoing 1/72 USS Maine model in Fusion 360; it measures around 10 inches long at current scale and can be easily scaled up if desired. The hull is not pre-sliced, so you'll need to use Meshmixer for that step, slicing it into three manageable parts.
