The 1851 Navy Colt fired cylinder-loaded rounds with a built-in ramrod and demanded percussion caps and black powder for operation. Serial number 116246 was hand-stamped on multiple sections of the gun, identifying its unique ownership history. Partially buried in eolian sediment, the revolver measured approximately 13 x 5 1/2 inches long, showcasing its compact design. At least three miniballs were visible within the chambers, with a possible fourth round lodged in the chamber itself. The two empty chambers lacked percussion caps, indicating that they remained unfired at the time of abandonment or loss of the weapon.
