18 - 200 mm CANON Lens Hood (EW-78D)
thingiverse
Hey there folks! So, I'm after getting my hands on a lens hood for an old lens that's been collecting dust on my shelf. Every store I checked was sold out, so I decided to dig in and find one to 3D print instead. I couldn't track down the exact model I needed, but I stumbled upon something very similar called the EW-73B. Since it was close enough, I gave it a makeover by remixing the design. To make it work with my lens, I had to get creative - I chopped off the bottom and twisted the top 90 degrees to create those long "wings" that'll sit above and below the objective. Once I'd resized it to fit, I was ready to go. I'm still working on perfecting the design, but I hope this helps you out there. If you spot any flaws or areas for improvement, please don't hesitate to let me know. Supports are a must-have due to that rounded bottom - trust me, I learned the hard way when I tried printing without them! The draft model in these photos will be getting a finer print soon. I'm thinking 0.15mm layer height with 20% infill should do the trick nicely. Thanks for taking a look!
