The primary objective behind these designs is detailed in “3D Printed UV-vis Cuvette Adapter for Low Cost and Versatile Spectroscopic Experiments,” a publication available through the open access journal ACS Omega. Access to this publication can be found at http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acsomega.7b01310. This specific part is designed to replicate traditional quartz and glass UV-vis spectrometer cuvettes. Featuring a path length of 17 mm, this cuvette can be easily used in most standard UV-Vis spectrometers. To minimize light scattering, it is recommended that this design be printed with a black filament. An instructional video illustrating the assembly process for the spectrometer (following printing) is provided below, along with a list of materials required. Either quartz or glass windows may be utilized depending on the desired spectral range of the cuvette.
