I still had a good 17" Full HD display (LP173WF4-SPF1) lying around from an old laptop. Why not build a second screen for my new laptop from it? A suitable display driver module was available on ebay. I think that all 17" have the same size. The template should always fit. I removed the upper tabs on the display to narrow them. After printing the 4 parts, they are glued together with super glue. Use a file and sandpaper to smooth out the glued areas and corners. I covered the front and sides with carbon film. The display is glued in from behind with double-sided adhesive tape, which also reinforces the frame. The speakers are available on ebay, but you can also glue others against them from behind. The driver module supplies the loudspeaker via HDMI with the sound signal approximately 2x 1.5W. I used 2mm black GRP for the back cover and glued it in place with double-sided mirror adhesive tape.
