As a homebrewer, I'm constantly seeking innovative ways to streamline my beer brewing process. To achieve this, I've created a compact desktop controller using readily available components like PIDs and SSRs. However, I wanted to push the boundaries further by designing an Arduino-based controller, despite being a non-programmer. My goal is for others to utilize this design as a starting point for their own projects or even collaborate with me on its improvement. Here's a comprehensive list of parts used in the front panel: * 140-170-60mm ABS plastic enclosure for a desktop electric meter panel * Tact switches and caps (12-12-7-3MM) for precise control * A 16x2 LCD display for clear readings For the back panel, I selected components that ensure seamless connectivity: * 4P4C RJ11 wired jack with cable for network socket integration * Plastic PG11 waterproof gland for secure wire management * SPST on/off switch for effortless power control * US 3-pin power socket plug for safe and reliable electrical connections To bring this design to life, I employed a 3D printer with the following settings: * Printer: XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: .2 - .3 layer height * Infill: 90% solid for maximum strength and minimal material usage Designing this controller involved several steps, which I'll outline below. To begin, I scanned the original blank plate into a digital image using my smartphone. Next, I imported the picture into 123D Design, scaled it up to actual size, and then exported the file into Tinkercad. From there, I measured the components with my digital calipers and created precise holes for each part. While I'm not an expert in 3D modeling, I believe there are more efficient ways to accomplish this task in fewer steps.
