16x2 character display enclosure with I2C (Fischertechnik and standalone)
thingiverse
Changelog: 2018-10-30: Added standalone version without Fischertechnik connectors; changed name accordingly. A simple enclosure is designed for a specific type of 16x2 HD44780 display that can be found on eBay, along with an I2C interface at the backside and connectors for the Fischertechnik construction toy system. To change the I2C address without opening the enclosure, you can add an optional 4xDIP switch. Only three switches are needed to set the address, so the fourth could be used as a backlight switch. The designer chose to keep the backlight on at all times by removing the jumper and bridging the two male pins on the I2C board. The design uses the LiquidCrystal library for Arduinos.
