This is a basic 16mm projector take-up reel made with laser-cut acrylic (1/8") and a 3D-printed center piece. Assemble it using your preferred choice of eight M3 screws; six millimeters work well. The reel can hold approximately five hundred feet of film, but I designed it specifically to fit the dimensions of some film that was already on another reel, so it may not meet standard specifications. I forgot to include a slot for threading the film initially, so if you want a reel with this feature, print the file labeled with the slot. You can also enlarge the discs by inserting the drawing into your preferred CAD program and extruding them to your desired thickness. I chose laser-cut acrylic because it was readily available due to my access to a free laser cutter. If you have similar materials at hand, along with a printer and a laser cutter, you can create this take-up reel for minimal cost other than the time invested.
