16mm Sleeve Carriage for Rostock Printer and Igus Linear Bearings
thingiverse
Metzench created an open, 16mm-compatible saddle carriage for Igus RJM-01-08 plastic linear bearings, which require a 16mm bushing to secure the ribbed bearing within an 8mm tolerance range. To modify Johann's original Rostock SCAD, Metzench designed a 16mm enclosed sleeve for holding the bearing. As they assemble a Rostock printer with 8mm rods, they plan to use these cost-effective and noise-reducing bearings instead of expensive metal ones. However, Metzench will update on the performance after completion. To print, follow instructions specifying at least 50% infill and one shell. The carriage's sleeve may be slightly undersized at 16mm nominal due to a ToM printer, necessitating use of an adjustable Harbor Freight reamer set to 15.8mm for precise fitting on the Igus bearing around 8mm rods; Metzench notes it might have been too tight during a test assembly but prefers starting small and adjusting upwards. Kindly share your thoughts.
