16mm Narrow Gauge Model Railway Wagon

This is a model railway wagon designed for garden railways. 16mm is "16mm to the Foot" scale, also known as 1:19, with 32mm track gauge, which translates to 2ft gauge in real life, often seen on Welsh Narrow Gauge. For more information about UK-based associations, visit www.16mm.org.uk. To create a realistic wood grain effect, print the sides and ends in white, then apply a brown wash paint. Glue the outside and inside together using a modeler's liquid solvent. Print with a high layer height of 0.24mm to show more grain detail. The sub-frame requires a close layer height for detailed printing, achieved at 0.16mm, printed in black. The coupling body is printed in red and bolted to the sub-frame with an M3x10 countersunk bolt. You can also print it in white and paint it. The buffer is made of black material, with a coupling hook created from a piece of wire. The wheels are printed in black at a tight layer height of 0.12mm, best printed one at a time. Drill out the center with a 2.9mm drill while holding the wheel in a lathe to maintain its squareness. For optimal results, you'll need 3mm axle rods and 3x4mm brass tube for the axle bushes. The design is intended for 32mm gauge track but can be adapted for 45mm track by using longer axles; however, this has not been tested on G-scale models. When slicing the model, orientate the items accordingly: the sub-frame upside-down and the planks at a 45-degree angle so that the top surface aligns with the grain of the wood. Supports are only necessary for the outer planks. Internal base planks with 12mm diameter magnets will be added to this project soon, along with barrels containing magnets. These components will be posted once they're completed and thoroughly checked. EDIT - April 2019 After testing several wagons at the Peterborough UK 16mm Nation Garden Railway Show, it became apparent that adding weight or supports is essential for stable performance. To address this issue, I've added 100g of car wheel weights under each frame, significantly improving stability.
