#What is it? This is a list of parts required for installing end-stops on an affordable Chinese 'CNC engraver' known as the 1610 CNC, available in Germany through Amazon Marketplace under the name "Beautystar CNC 1610" or similar names. #What's a 1610 CNC? There are several cheap "CNC engravers" out there, usually identified by their milling area size. In my case, it's a "1610," which stands for 160mm x 100mm (XY). These machines perform reasonably well considering they're made from aluminum extrusions. They can effectively carve wood, even hardwood, when used gently and slowly. The parts come with precise dimensions, making them suitable for woodwork: 0.05mm (0.002", 2 thou) size accuracy is what we aim for, which is less than the wood will expand or contract due to humidity changes. To achieve this level of precision, it's essential to assemble everything perfectly, and this is where these machines fall short of CNC mills: there are no independent adjustments available; nowhere to shim the spindle, forget about tramming; it all comes down to how well you can loosen and tighten the correct bolts. # My GRBL settings: $0=10 $1=232 $2=0 $3=5 $4=0 $5=1 $6=0 $10=1 $11=0.010 $12=0.002 $13=0 $20=1 $21=0 $22=1 $23=0 $24=100.000 $25=500.000 $26=250 $27=1.000 $30=8000 $31=0 $32=0 $100=800.000 $101=800.000 $102=800.000 $110=1500.000 $111=1000.000 $112=500.000 $120=100.000 $121=100.000 $122=100.000 $130=162.500 //adjust to actual unobstructed travel range $131=105.000 //adjust to actual unobstructed travel range $132=44.500 //adjust to actual unobstructed travel range
