These combs are designed specifically for Bio-Rad's vertical mini protein gels, fitting with the 0.75, 1.0, or 1.5 mm spacers. Notably, Bio-Rad does not sell 16-well combs; hence, these are particularly useful when you have 15 samples and still wish to load a molecular weight marker. To print these combs on a MakerBot Replicator 2, utilize MakerWare software with the settings: medium quality, 10% infill, 0.2 mm layer height, 2 shells, and 230 degrees C, ensuring that their wide flat side faces downward. However, be aware that the advertised thicknesses of these combs by BioRad are incorrect; for instance, the 0.75-mm comb is only 0.6 mm thick, a significant difference affecting performance. Consequently, the 0.75-mm file has been replaced with a 0.6-mm file, along with the corresponding Sketchup file for modifications.
